Objective:

The assignment is to have you develop a contemporary style website. I would recommend you sketch up some ideas and show them to several classmates to see if they meet their definitions of “contemporary”. (hint, hint)

You will need to determine the topic of your site. It must be for an existing non-profit. It may not be made up – and it must serve a purpose. The site may not exist, or this may be a special site for the non-profit.

Directions:

Create a Flash website using the following qualifications. Points will be deducted for not following the directions.

  • Use a size of 960px wide, by a standard height. (you may wan to research this to ensure you do not require scrolling)
  • A minimum of two (2) different sounds should be playable – the sounds may be effects for clicking on items, or part of an intro, or VO effect.
  • You should have a minimum of our (4) pages.
  • The audible and visual design should match
  • Initial page size should be < 300KB for the SWF
  • Overall SWF files should be <600KB per SWF page
  • No blurry/pixilated images, & readable text if applicable
  • Rollover effects for the clickable items
  • Use a color pallet to help with style (Go to www.kuler.adobe.com or www.colourlovers.com and choose a color palette.)
  • Set Frame Rate to 20fps
  • Link to at least 1 external website
  • Use a preloader for any SWF over 350 KB
  • Embed the SWF into an HTML document.
  • Embed necessary fonts.
  • Include at least 2 basic animations.

Turn In:

Turn in the FLA and the SWF files as well as the HTML files. Flash FLA file may be versions CS4 to CS6. Zip up the two files. Name the zip file prj3_firstname_lastname.zip. Submit the assignment via Sakai.
