Directions:
You must pick a real, existing, non-profit, but you don’t have to do it for something they are currently doing. Your website must support either their organization, an event of theirs, or provide information that they would distribute (ex.: MADD about the perils of driving drunk.)
Furthermore, your site must use a stylized theme for WordPress. You may build a theme from scratch or build a child theme off of Thematic, or BlankSlate.
Your theme should follow the design of either Grunge, Retro (1940’s-1960’s), or Dark. If you have a theme you would like to use, please verify it with me, and show me one or more sites/pieces of work that support your choice with your non-profit.
Even though you will probably be using more images than normal, it is important to keep your files small and manageable. Your template file should be under 500 KB (1/2 MB) including all external files (images, CSS, JS, Flash, etc.)
You should fill in the appropriate pages, based upon what would be required for your site. You site should have at least 5 pages associated with it (no upper limit). You must determine what those pages need to be and come up with enough text and other forms of content for them. Use the actual non-profit’s site, and related sites, for samples.
Create a link, in an obvious location, to the actual non-profits web site.
You must also include at least one form.
Good standard design practices apply, and will be graded. Use external resources as good web design would dictate.
Your code should also include standard semantic markups, properly using header tags, lists, and other code types.
Note: You may need to add one or more plugins to make your content work. Please add them as necessary.
