Layout

Tracing Image - an image that can be loaded into the background to use as a reference for layout features.

Layer - a Dreamweaver special div for positioning elements (don't recommend using)

Tables - should not be used for laying out information

Tracing Image

• Only good for layout - background image does not show on regular page

1. Goto Page Properties
2. Select the Tracing Image category
3. Choose your tracing image
4. Adjust transparency to suit

Layers

• Allow you to "draw" your areas of information
• Do not get updated if used in Tempaltes
• Do not recommend using
• What is difference between layers and divs

Layout Guidlines

• Get some basic ideas of what you want
• Sketch out ideas
• Determine colors
• Create generic box layout to know what elements you will need to add
